Eye Irritation Test of Sodium Hyaluronate in Rabbit

Abstract
|
|
|
The eye irritation of sodium hyaluronate was investigated in rabbits. The eye irritation test of this material was performed according to the Established Regulation of Korean National Institute of Safety Research(1994. 4. 14).
The result was followed;
In the single application test, 0.1㎖ of sodium hyaluronate(1㎎/0.1㎖) and 0.9% saline as vehicle control were applied to one eye of the rabbit. T`he reactions were examined for one week after treatment. No eye irritation was observed in the rabbit eye treated with the test solutions and 0.9% saline.
Therefore, it is thought that sodium hyaluronate does not induce eye irritation in rabbits.
